October Issue of The ICAC Recorder Addresses 'Waste to Wealth' and Cotton Lint
Given the heartbreaking economic devastation that's been caused by the novel coronavirus, it's the perfect time for the editor of The ICAC Recorder, Dr Keshav Kranthi, to highlight ways that cotton stakeholders can increase their income from cotton production and processing. Every little bit helps and it would be a huge boon if farmers can turn what's generally considered mill waste into a new revenue stream, as Dr Kranthi says in his editorial.

All three feature articles in the October 2020 edition of the ICAC Recorder are authored by Dr S Sreenivasan, former Director of India's Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT). The first article assesses the value of comber noil, the short fibres derived when cotton yarn is combed. In the second, 'Value Addition to Linters', he identifies a number of products that can generate revenue from the tiny fibres left on the seed after ginning. In the third and final article, Dr Sreenivasan discusses novel uses for lint, beyond clothing and home textiles.
