Latin American Association for Cotton Research and Development

The Latin American Association for Cotton Research and Development (ALIDA) was created by countries of the region in 1986. Since then, meetings of ALIDA have held every two years on regular basis. The meeting to be held in 2007 was skipped because the World Cotton Research Conference-4 held in the USA in September 2007.

Participation in ALIDA meetings is open to all countries; ALIDA meetings are conducted in Spanish only. Researchers from the private sector and officials from the cotton industry are also welcome to attend and make presentations. The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) is sponsoring the meeting, and local organizations in collaboration with the Technical Information Section of the ICAC organize the meetings. ALIDA encourages researchers from the region to attend the meeting.
