25 April

In furtherance of efforts to raise awareness, provide information and facilitate constructive cooperation, the ICAC Secretariat is working with GlobalWorks Foundation to plan a workshop on Best Practices to Ensure Responsible Sourcing in the Cotton Value Chain.

The workshop will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on 11 May at the Embassy of Australia, 1601 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington DC 20036.

The intended audience is embassy representatives in Washington.  Participants from the private sector of the cotton industry and the cotton community in Washington such as World Bank, USDA and NGOs, will also be invited.

The intent of the Workshop is to showcase responsible practices by reputable performers and to demonstrate how governments are encouraging such activity. This Workshop will encourage adoption of best practices by showcasing effective strategies.

A panel of between four and six participants are being invited, all from the private sector, including two from retail, two in the middle of the value chain and two associated with cotton planting seed production. This will provide a comprehensive look at the full cotton value chain from retail down to the ground.

Participation in the Seminar is complementary, but all participants should register in advance for ease of entry to the Embassy of Australia.
