The ICAC has supported the research associate program for many years. The program is
announced in September/October of each year and anybody nominated by a coordinating
agency or delegate to the Standing Committee of ICAC is eligible to participate.
The
budget is sufficient to support 12 researchers each year. The program is conducted
alternately in production research and marketing and economics of cotton. Researchers
and their parent institutions are responsible for the cost of international travel. The ICAC
covers boarding and lodging and travel within the USA.
Research Associates are
familiarized with the work of the ICAC Secretariat, new technologies and recent
developments in production research and marketing of cotton, and the structure of the
cotton industry in the United States.
